Novelty id cards for collectors - Why I do it

I know most people here just want to get into bars, but I actually collect novelty id cards for the art and technology behind them. It is amazing how much security tech is packed into a tiny piece of plastic. I have cards from 15 different states and the evolution of the holographic overlays is fascinating.

I usually display them in a special binder with UV lights so I can see the patterns. My favorite right now is the new Illinois design with the complex laser ablation. It is like a tiny masterpiece of engineering. Does anyone else here collect them just for the tech?
