Novelty id cards: Why you should always check the back

The back of a novelty id card is just as important as the front, but it's often overlooked. Many vendors use a generic back template for every state, which is a huge mistake. Real IDs have state-specific info on the back, including the restrictions codes, the ghost image placement, and even specific micro-printing.

If the back of your card looks too 'clean' or generic, a bouncer who flips it over will know it's a fake. Always ask your vendor for a photo of the back of the card before they ship it. Make sure the layout matches the official state specs for 2026. A 100% accurate front won't save you if the back is a 0/10!
