Let's talk about the Texas novelty id cards 2D barcode. I've noticed that some of the newer scanners are checking for the hidden data fields—specifically the ones that include the card issue date and the audit number. If the encoded data is even slightly off, the scanner will flag it as a 'high risk' or 'unverified' card.

Make sure your vendor is using the latest encoding standards for the back of the card. I took mine to a liquor store in Austin and it scanned without any delay. Also, check that the info on the back matches your height and eye color on the front. It's a simple check but one that bouncers often do if the scanner takes more than a second to process the card.
