Is the Virginia polycarbonate batch good right now?

I'm stuck between getting a North Carolina ID or a California one—which one is actually scanning right now?

I'm curious if anyone else has had issues with the 2D barcode on these? Mine worked at the gas station but a buddy of mine said his failed at a major chain. Consistency seems to be the main issue with the budget shops lately. Spend the extra money on a premium vendor if you can.

The first thing I noticed was the weight of the card. It doesn't feel like those cheap library cards you see some vendors pushing. When you drop it on a table, it has that specific metallic ring that North Carolina bouncers are always listening for. The holograms are surprisingly crisp too, shifting perfectly from green to gold when you tilt it back and forth.

One thing to watch out for with Pastel IDs is the shipping time. It took about 18 days to reach me, which isn't the fastest, but the stealth was top notch. It came hidden inside something I would have never suspected. If you are in a rush, maybe look elsewhere, but for quality, they are solid.

Comparing this to Pastel IDs, I think North Carolina is actually the better choice for most people. The design is complex enough to be convincing but common enough that it doesn't stand out too much. The polycarbonate layers are fused perfectly with no signs of peeling at the edges.

I've been researching this for a long time and I think it's important to share these details with the community because things change so fast in the novelty ID market. You have to stay updated on which states are scanning and which ones are being flagged by the latest software updates.
