Order confirmation never arrived of novelty ID

Quick question about state selection - I live in Maryland and debating whether to get my home state ID or a different state.

My situation:
• Will mainly use it locally in Maryland
• Occasionally travel to neighboring states
• Want something that won't raise suspicion

Do bouncers/cashiers find it suspicious when you use an out-of-state ID in your home state? Or is it common enough that nobody cares?

What would you recommend for my situation?
